Pokemon Black/White Walkthrough - Bolt Badge
Castelia Gym
After defeating Burgh and receiving the Insect Badge, exit the Gym.
Castelia City

When you exit the Gym, Bianca will call on the Xtranceiver. She tells you that the two of you should battle on Route 4; she'll be waiting in the gatehouse north of Castelia.
Go to the Pokemon Center and heal your Pokemon, then go into the gatehouse at the extreme northern part of the city. I guess this is technically Route 4, so...
Route 4

As you walk into the Route 4 gatehouse, Bianca will stop and speak with you a bit before battling you.

Exit the gatehouse to the north after the battle to get on Route 4, which is mostly a construction area located in a desert. Continue north along the main road to Cheren. You can then battle him.

After the battle, you'll receive a Xtransceiver call from Professor Juniper.
After this, go west and collect the X Accuracy. Go north of it and into the house. Here, you can heal your Pokemon. Leave the house and go west. As you go, take notice of the darker sand you sink into -- this is where the wild Pokemon of Route 4 are found. Continue west and you'll find some stairs. Descend them and speak with both of the Fishermen to battle both of them.
After these battles, go up the stairs and head north. You'll find a Parasol Lady available for battling, as well as a Great Ball nearby. Go further north near the girders to find a Hyper Potion. Further north is a Worker you can battle. After this battle, go down the stairs to the east and battle another Worker on the other side of some more girders.
After defeating the second Worker, go up the stairs to the northwest. There, you will find TM41 (Torment). Return south to the Parasol Lady, then go a bit further south and east, so you can get back to the main road.
Back on the main road, go north. You'll soon find a Backpacker. Defeat him and grab the nearby Burn Heal. Then go east and battle the Backpacker there. Near her, to the east, is an Ether. Go north from there to battle a third Backpacker and then north again to find a Super Potion and another Backpacker.
Now, you'll be coming to a split in the road soon -- one going west and the other going north. The north road has a Backpacker to battle on it and leads to the next city. The west road also has a few Trainers on it and leads to the (currently optional) Desert Resort. Do whatever you want -- I'll go on and do the guide as if you ARE going to the Desert Resort.
Anyhow, defeat the Backpacker on the Nimbasa Road, then return to the fork and go west. As you go along the road, you'll find a Worker to battle, and another one further west. Further west is a house, inside which you can speak with a Worker to get TM28 (Dig). This Ground-type move has the user burrow underground for one turn and strike on the next. It can also be used in the field to escape caves/dungeons/etc.
North of the house is just a sand path and no Trainers. Go along it north and west to the gatehouse. Go through to find the Desert Resort.
Desert Resort
____________________________________________________________________________ | Pokemon | Pokemon Type | Level Range | Encounter Method | |----------------+----------------------+---------------+--------------------| | Darumaka | Fire | 19 to 20 | Dark sand | | Sandile | Ground/Dark | 19 to 22 | Dark sand | | Scraggy | Dark/Fighting | 20 | Dark sand | | Maractus | Grass | 20 | Dark sand | | Dwebble | Bug/Rock | 20 to 22 | Dark sand | |============================================================================| | Trainers' Pokemon: Solosis Lv. 23 | | Tranquill Lv. 23 | | Watchog Lv. 23 | | Gothita Lv. 24 | | Maractus Lv. 23 | | Yamask Lv. 22, Munna Lv. 22 | | Ducklett Lv. 24 | | Darumaka Lv. 23, Blitzle Lv. 23 | | Solosis Lv. 23, Woobat Lv. 23 | | Dwebble Lv. 23 | |____________________________________________________________________________|
When you enter, go north to battle the Doctor. After defeating his Solosis, he will heal your Pokemon. Much like the Nurse outside Pinwheel Forest, just speak with him whenever you want your Pokemon healed.
After this, go west and atop the hill to battle a Backpacker. From him, go northeast to battle another Backpacker. Then go west to find the BlackGlasses, a hold items that boosts the holder's Dark-type moves by 20%. Now go northwest and you'll find some statues. These are Darmanitan (the evolutionary form of Darumaka). They can be awakened later on by giving them the RageCandyBar. Go south and grab the Fresh Water. Continue southward to battle a Psychic. Then go northwest to battle another Backpacker. Go west to find a Super Potion, and to the northwestern corner of the Resort to find a Heart Scale.
From the Heart Scale, go south and past the castle tower and you'll find another Psychic for battling. Even further south is a Pokemon Ranger (who will give you a Rawst Berry (heals Burn) upon defeat). Go further south and into the western passageway to find a second Ranger to battle (who gives another Rawst Berry to you when you win).
Further south from the second Ranger, you'll find TM39 (Rock Tomb), which can deal Rock damage, slow and possibly cause the opponent to flinch. Go back north to the female Ranger and go south to find a Fire Stone, then east to battle yet another Psychic.
Go north from the Psychic to find a Stardust (which can be sold for a decent amount of money - about $1,000), then go east to battle the last Trainer here, a Backpacker.
Go back to the Doctor in the southeastern corner of the area, then return to the place with the Darmanitan statues. Go down into Relic Castle.

When you enter, go near the quicksand pit and battle the Psychic.
Now, about the quicksand. If you run while standing on the sand in the pit (the wavy stuff), you will fall in. If you walk into the black hole in the pit, you will fall in. Got it? (FYI, going down into the basement via the quicksand will help you to find a Revive in that room.)
Go and battle the Psychic on the opposite side of the quicksand. Now, you could normally proceed forward via the stairs, but there is work being done down there now and a worker will block you.
However, we are not done. Near the third quicksand pit, you'll find a person to speak to that can give you a fossil of your choice:
O----------------O------------O---------------O----------O | Fossil | Pokemon | Type | Level | O----------------O------------O---------------O----------O | Cover Fossil | Tirtouga | Water/Rock | Lv. 25 | | Plume Fossil | Archen | Rock/Flying | Lv. 25 | O----------------O------------O---------------O----------O
If you take this to the Museum in Nacrene, you can revive a Pokemon with the above data.
That's pretty much it for here. So I guess you can now leave.

Go to the southeastern corner and heal up using the Doctor. Then go through the gatehouse onto Route 4.

From the Desert Resort gatehouse, go east, south, east, north at the fork, and follow the road. You may have to battle the Timburr trainer as you go. Keep on following the road to Nimbasa City.
Nimbasa City

In the gatehouse, you'll find Prof. Juniper. She'll give you an Ultra Ball and an explanation of why everyone was chosen for this journey. She then leaves and you regain self-control. Go north into the main city.
There, you'll find some Team Plasma Grutns trying to steal from the Daycare Man. You'll have to battle one. It is too easy: it is just a Watchog and a Trubbish at Lv. 18 each. Your starter and/or simian should handle it just fine.
After the Grunts leave, saying they will hide in the amusement park as they go, you'll be given the Bicycle. This lets you go faster than the Running Shoes! Soon after this, Bianca shows up, saying she will go to see a musical.
Speaking of musicals, head over to the northeastern corner of the city and you will find Bianca in front fo the Music Theater. She'll take you inside and you will meet the owner, who also gives you a Prop Case (which holds the dress-up accessories your Pokemon wears for the musical). You can participate in the musicals if you wish, but they aren't that exciting. They are more like the boring ones from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald rather than those of Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
Walk outside and you'll find Bianca speaking with her father. He is trying to get her to come back to Nuvema Town, but Bianca digs in her heels and says she will continue with her adventure. Elesa, the Nimbasa Gym Leader, will soon come and presuade Bianca's father to change his mind, which is successful.
Once you regain control, go east of the Music Theater. Here, you'll find a gatehouse to Route 16, the highest-numbered Route in Unova. It IS accessible and has battle-able Trainers and wild Pokemon. For the sake of leveling up, I shall now cover it. If you would wish to not enter this Route, please go forward to the next "Nimbasa City" section.
Regardless, remember to grab the Macho Brace from the baseball player in the Rt. 16 gatehouse.

Simply go along the road and you'll battle four trainers altogether: a Policeman, a Cyclist, a Backpacker, and another Cyclist.
Further east from the last Cyclist is the entrance to Marvelous Bridge. It is closed for the moment, and will be until we finish the game.
Now, until you finish the Nimbasa City Gym, we cannot do anything else here. So go back to Nimbasa and heal your Pokemon if needed.
Nimbasa City

Now, whether you went to Route 16 or not, you can go west from the Music Theater and you'll find a Big Stadium. Inside, you can battle a Trainer once daily. Further along the road, you can battle another Trainer once daily.
Next, go to the Pokemon Center and heal up as needed. Go into the building to the Pokemon Center's northwest. Speak with the blue-haired guy on the first floor to receive HM04, Strength. This HM is an 80-Power Normal-type move that is quite powerful. When you receive the Bolt Badge, you can also use it to move boulders, like those on Route 2 and Route 16, outside of battles. You can also go upstairs and speak with the elderly lady to receive a Soothe Bell if your first Pokemon is sufficiently happy. A Pokemon holding the Soothe Bell will get happier faster.
Exit the building and go into the one due north of the Pokemon Center. Inside, speak with the blue-haired guy on the second floor to receive a Sun Stone.
Exit THAT building and go into the one east of the Pokemon Center, the Battle Subway. As you enter, you'll be given the VS. Recorder. Much like that of the Gen. IV games, it can record videos of battles (Wi-Fi and Battle Subway). To get a Battle Subway battle, just go to one of the trains (check the nearby plaque to see what train it is). As you ride and battle on one, you can receive BP, a monetary unit that lets you buy some items here.
Leave when ready and go to the Pokemon Center again if you haven't yet done so. Then go east of there and into the Amusement Park. Continue east and you'll find N in front of the ferris wheel. He offers you a ride... As you ride on up, he divulges some details about Team Plasma, primarily that he is their leader. The ride soon ends and N battles you so as to let the nearby Grunts leave.

It is immune to | | Electric and Psychic. | | | | Darumaka is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. | | | | Scraggy is weak to Fighting, Bug (maybe), and Flying. It is immune to | | Psychic. | | | | Sigilyph is weak to Dark, Ghost, Electric, Ice, and Rock. It is immune to | | Ground. | | | | Recommendations: Your simian and your starter at Lv. 24+. It is a full | | guarantee that at least one of them will have an advantage over Sandile. | | It is possible that, if you lack a Tepig/Pignite, you'll also have the | | advantage over Darumaka (if not, use your Tepig/Pignite). As for the other| | two to fight, your starter should be able to deal with both (unless it is | | Grass, in Sigilyph's case; switch to Pan/Simipour if it is so). | |____________________________________________________________________________|
After defeating N, go south and by the bench - you'll find an X Attack there. Next, we shall head to the Gym -- heal up beforehand if you need to.
Nimbasa Gym

Nimbasa's Gym specializes in training Pokemon of the Electric type, such as Blitzle and Emolga (for Black/White players), or Pikachu and Electrike (for previous game's players). These Pokemon have a sole weakness of Ground (if they are JUST Electric type) and advantages over Flying and Water. I also think they are the only ones that can do normal damage to those of the Steel type. On another note, Ground-type Pokemon like Sandile are immune to the Electric moves that all Trainers here will use. Food for thought.
When you enter, go forward and speak with the guy to obtain another Fresh Water. Get onto the right track and enter the coaster car. Exit when at first possible. Go along this short path and you'll find a Trainer. Defeat her and get onto the switch. Return to the coaster and get in. Exit when possible and leave again.
After getting off the second time, go north and battle the Rich Boy. Step on the nearby yellow switch and try to get into the coaster. You'll have to battle before being able to do so.
Once you defeat the Trainer, get in and exit when first possible. Hit the purple switch and try to enter the coaster. You'll battle again.
After this battle, get into the coaster and you'll be zoomed to the platform with Elesa on it. Speak with her to begin!

If you chose Snivy as your starter and therefore lack | | one, as I did, just go and catch a Sandile or bring a Darumaka or some | | other strong Pokemon. | |____________________________________________________________________________|
After the battle, you will be given the Bolt Badge, which allows you to use HM04 (Strength) out of battle. It also shows you've completed the Gyms by half! You'll also be given TM72 (Volt Switch). It is an Electric move that, after it hits, you get to switch Pokemon. Kinda like the Electric version of U-turn (players of G/S/C/HG/SS should understand THAT quite well).
Well, now go into the unused coaster and leave.
